When we saw the email from Lego.com saying, “CONGRATULATIONS, You’re a runner up winner!” we were beyond excited for Heistheway! 

We hugged her and jumped around. Everyone was talking so loudly as we squealed in delight. Previously that Monday morning, she shared with her nine-year-old brother that she didn’t think that she won anything and was feeling a bit sad. Abraham asked her, “Have you been praying about it?”

Not too long after that, we all found out and celebrated with a rare Facetime call from her daddy. We congratulated her and showered our love on Heistheway as a family. When we told her grandparents, they wanted to buy her flowers right away. Her other grandpa wanted to send her money as he tries to reward his grandparents with that as an incentive in achieving more things.

This was no small feat. Some explanation of what she had to do can be found in this recent blog post titled, “Heistheway’s Stop-Motion Films for LEGO Contest.”

Not only were there a total of 130 entries for this contest, but she was competing against 13-year-olds to adults worldwide. When the contest was released, LEGO® announced that they would award one grand prize winner and two runner-up winners (essentially two 2nd place winners winning the same prizes). It’s neat because the two runner-up winners receive the same LEGO® Creator 3-in-1 sets as the grand prize winner!

Congratulations, Heistheway! We’re beyond excited and rejoice alongside you in this blessing! What a sweet memory you have of all the work and research it took to make these stop-motion short “films” and that you won something in the first contest you’ve ever joined.
